The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has this new feature where all the opened apps in your current session will restart automatically.

That is if you don’t manually close each one of them before restarting your PC. Officially, you won’t find any settings or options in the Settings app or the Control Panel to disable or actually control this feature.

Like most sane people, you’ll probably find this feature super annoying. The same thing can be accomplished by hibernation which has been present in Windows since the days of Vista.

Anyway, you can avoid the automatic restarting of the apps in Fall Creators Update by not restarting your PC by going to the turn off PC button in the start menu. Instead, use the key combination of Alt + F4 while you are on the Desktop and then select Turn off PC from there.
